My Path

Art became a part of my life in my late teens when I attended a watercolor course by Anne Toulmin Roth in Westport Connecticut.  She was part of an exciting group of artists that included Bob Baxter, Charles Reid, and Chip Chadborne. Throughout my college and working years I followed my passion for painting in venues that were available wherever I happened to be at the time, including:

The University of Colorado, Boulder, CO.
The Art Students League, New York, NY
The Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, VA
Numerous Workshops from artists like Wolf Kahn, Janet Fish, Charles Reid.

Professionally I made a living as an account executive for a large magazine/catalog printing company.  That industry was a playground for exploring the science of color.  There I learned a lot about the additive and subtractive color mixing processes, and gained insights into the physiology of human color perception.  With this awareness you can appreciate how light affects color and how mixing and applying color affects the colors you see.

For years was associated with the Torpedo Factory Art League and The Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association where I was juried into many monthly shows.  My one man show at the Art League took place October 2020.  Here is a link to the show:  “Across the Gorge and Other Spaces Between”.
